Grade / Level mapping
TuitionDesk lets you keep Grade/Level optional. When your centre turns on the Levels feature (Settings > Centre features) and creates Grade/Level entries, topic pickers across Subjects, Batches and the AI study-plan generator use the same mapping rule below to filter topics by grade. Ask Aiyan chat does not read this mapping yet — it only sees each student's free-text Grade field.
1) Where the mapping starts
Each student can have an optional Grade text field. Grade is stored as text and is used to match your academy’s configured Grade/Level entries.
2) Matching rule (important)
- TuitionDesk matches the student’s Grade text to a configured LevelDefinition name.
- Matching is case-insensitive and ignores leading/trailing spaces.
- If there is no match (or Grade is blank), TuitionDesk treats the student as universal (blank).
3) Universal topics (blank)
Topics can be created as Universal (blank) or tied to a specific Grade/Level. When a specific Grade/Level is selected, TuitionDesk includes: specific topics + universal topics. When Grade/Level is set to Universal (blank), only universal topics appear.
4) What to do if matching looks wrong
If topic pickers or the study-plan generator don’t seem to use the expected grade (Ask Aiyan reads only the free-text Grade, so it is not affected by this mapping):
- Check the LevelDefinition names in your admin.
- Rename them to match the Grade text you enter on students (example: “Grade 3”, “grade 3”).
- Blank/unmapped values will always fall back to universal topics.
