Does TuitionDesk Work in Singapore? SGD, Payments & GST
How TuitionDesk handles SGD, Stripe payments, GST, and local setup for Singapore tuition centres.
Singapore has one of the world's most active private tuition markets. With enrichment centres on every HDB block and parents investing heavily in supplementary education, tuition centre owners here need software that speaks SGD — not ₹ or $ — and keeps up with the pace of a demanding parent community.
This guide answers the most common questions Singapore tuition centre owners ask before signing up to TuitionDesk.
Does TuitionDesk Work in Singapore?
Yes. TuitionDesk is built to work in any country. When you create your academy, you set your Country of Operation to Singapore, and the platform configures itself automatically:
| Setting | What you get |
|---|---|
| Currency | SGD (S$) |
| Timezone | Asia/Singapore (SGT, UTC+8) |
| Phone dial code | +65 |
| Tax label | GST |
| Payment provider | Stripe |
| Date format | DD/MM/YYYY |
| Academic calendar | Jan–Dec |
There is no manual configuration. Set the country once at signup and every fee, receipt, reminder message, and report in your dashboard uses Singapore Dollars from day one.
Online Payments in Singapore: Stripe
In Singapore, TuitionDesk processes online parent payments through Stripe — the same gateway used by Grab, Shopee, and thousands of Singapore businesses.
Stripe in Singapore supports:
- Credit and debit cards — Visa, Mastercard, Amex
- PayNow — Singapore's real-time bank transfer network
- GrabPay — widely used by parents in Singapore
- Apple Pay and Google Pay
- Direct bank transfers (DBS, OCBC, UOB, and others)
When a parent receives a fee reminder on WhatsApp or email, there is a Pay Now link included. They tap it, choose their preferred payment method, and the payment is marked automatically in TuitionDesk. No manual reconciliation.
Connecting Stripe
- Go to Settings → Payments in your dashboard
- Click Connect Stripe
- Either create a new Stripe account (free) or link an existing one
- Enable PayNow, GrabPay, and cards as payment methods
- Add your Singapore bank account for SGD payouts
Once connected, every fee reminder includes a payment link. Payouts land in your bank account within 2 business days.
GST on Tuition Fees
Singapore has a GST exemption for tuition provided by approved operators. If your centre charges fees without GST, TuitionDesk's receipts simply omit the tax line. If you do charge GST, the tax label and amount appear on every receipt correctly.
The GST setting is managed under your fee structure. Contact support if you need assistance configuring GST-inclusive or GST-exclusive fee plans.
Fee Reminders the Singapore Way
Parents in Singapore tend to expect professional communication. TuitionDesk's automated fee reminders go out:
- 3 days before the due date (coming-soon reminder)
- On the due date if unpaid
- Daily after the due date until the fee is cleared
All messages show the amount in S$, the student's name, and the fee period. Messages are delivered via WhatsApp, email, or push notification — whichever channels you enable.
Session Notes for Singapore's Demanding Parents
Singapore parents are deeply involved in their child's academic progress. TuitionDesk lets teachers add session notes after every class — what was covered, homework assigned, what the student needs to work on. Parents receive these notes through the parent portal app.
This reduces the "please WhatsApp the teacher" problem that most centres deal with. Parents get updates, teachers stay focused on teaching.
Reports and AI Features in SGD
Every financial report — outstanding dues, collection summaries, fee intelligence — displays amounts in S$. The AI-powered Fee Intelligence feature, which predicts which students are at risk of defaulting, shows those risk amounts in SGD.
The AI class setup wizard also picks up your country context and suggests realistic fee amounts for a Singapore tuition centre, not India.
What Is Not Yet Available
To be transparent:
- Platform subscription billing is currently in INR. Singapore centres pay for TuitionDesk in Indian Rupees at the current rate. SGD billing is on the roadmap.
- Multi-currency per academy — if you have branches in Singapore and Malaysia collecting in different currencies — is not yet supported. Each academy has one currency.
These limitations do not affect most tuition centres operating in a single country.
