Does TuitionDesk Work in Indonesia? IDR, QRIS & Payments
How TuitionDesk handles IDR, Stripe payments, QRIS, GoPay, and local setup for bimbingan belajar and tuition centres in Indonesia.
Indonesia has one of the largest private tutoring markets in Southeast Asia. Known locally as bimbingan belajar (bimbel), supplementary education centres serve millions of students preparing for national exams, university entrance tests, and curriculum enrichment. From Ganesha Operation and Primagama-style large chains to independent neighbourhood bimbel, the market is vast — and growing.
If you run a bimbel or tuition centre in Indonesia and are evaluating management software, here is exactly how TuitionDesk works for you.

Online Payments in Indonesia: Stripe + QRIS
Indonesia has one of the most dynamic digital payments ecosystems in the world. TuitionDesk uses Stripe to handle online fee collection, and Stripe in Indonesia supports:
- QRIS — Indonesia's unified QR payment standard that works with GoPay, OVO, Dana, ShopeePay, LinkAja, and all bank apps. One QR code accepts payment from any e-wallet or m-banking app.
- GoPay — Gojek's e-wallet, used by hundreds of millions of Indonesians
- OVO — widely used across Tokopedia and retail
- Dana — popular in Tier 2 and 3 cities
- Credit and debit cards — Visa, Mastercard (bank-issued cards, growing adoption)
- Bank transfer (Virtual Account) — BCA, Mandiri, BNI, BRI, and others
QRIS is particularly powerful for Indonesian bimbel because parents can pay directly from their GoPay, Dana, or OVO app by scanning a single code — no need to enter card details.
Connecting Stripe for Your Indonesian Centre
- Go to Settings → Payments in your TuitionDesk dashboard
- Connect your Stripe account (create one free — Stripe is available for Indonesian businesses)
- Enable QRIS and Virtual Account (Bank Transfer) as payment methods
- Add your Indonesian bank account (BCA, Mandiri, BNI, BRI, or others) for IDR payouts
Once connected, fee reminders include a Pay Now link. Parents tap it, scan the QRIS code in their preferred app, and the payment marks automatically in TuitionDesk.
PPN (VAT) on Tuition Fees
In Indonesia, educational services from registered educational institutions are generally exempt from PPN (Pajak Pertambahan Nilai, Indonesia's VAT at 11%). Most bimbel and private tuition centres operate without charging PPN.
If your centre is required to charge PPN, TuitionDesk's receipts can include the PPN label and amount. If you are exempt, the receipt shows only the fee total without a tax line.
Managing Ujian Nasional and SNBT Preparation
Indonesian tuition centres often run intense exam-preparation programmes:
- SNBT (Seleksi Nasional Berdasarkan Tes) — national university entrance exam
- UTBK prep batches
- SMP/SMA national exams
- Subject enrichment for K-12 (curriculum: Merdeka Belajar, Kurikulum 2013)
TuitionDesk handles each as a separate batch — with its own teacher, schedule, fee, and student group. A bimbel can run SNBT prep on weekday evenings and SD/SMP subject enrichment on weekends, completely separately, from one dashboard.
Automated Fee Reminders for Indonesian Parents
TuitionDesk's automated fee reminders save hours of manual follow-up each month:
- 3 days before the due date
- On the due date if unpaid
- Daily after the due date until settled
All messages show the amount in Rp (Indonesian Rupiah), the student's name, and the fee period. Delivery via WhatsApp, email, or push notification.
Session Notes for Parents
After each class, teachers can add session notes: what was covered, what homework was assigned, what the student needs to work on. Parents see these notes in the parent portal app. For exam-prep bimbel, this is especially valuable — parents tracking their child's SNBT readiness can see exactly which subjects and question types were covered each session.
Reports in IDR
All financial reports — outstanding dues, monthly collection, fee intelligence — display amounts in Rupiah (Rp). The AI-powered Fee Intelligence feature shows students at risk of payment default with their overdue amounts in IDR.
What Is Not Yet Available
- Subscription billing in IDR — TuitionDesk's platform fee is currently billed in INR. Indonesian centres pay in Indian Rupees at the current exchange rate. IDR billing is planned.
- Midtrans integration — Midtrans is Indonesia's dominant local payment gateway, but TuitionDesk currently uses Stripe for non-India markets. Midtrans support is on the roadmap.
