Online Payments in Australia: Stripe

Stripe is one of the most widely used payment processors in Australia. TuitionDesk uses Stripe to handle online fee collection for Australian centres.

Stripe in Australia supports:

• Credit and debit cards — Visa, Mastercard, Amex (near-universal in Australia)
• Apple Pay and Google Pay — very high adoption in Australia
• BECS Direct Debit — for recurring monthly tuition fees (ideal for term-based billing)
• PayID — real-time bank transfer (via Stripe)
• Afterpay — buy-now-pay-later, widely used in Australia (available via Stripe in some configurations)

BECS Direct Debit is particularly useful for Australian tuition centres: parents authorise once and fees are collected automatically each month or each term. This is the most frictionless way to run fee collection for ongoing enrolments.

Term-Based Billing

Australian tuition centres typically bill by school term (4 terms per year, roughly 10 weeks each) rather than monthly. TuitionDesk supports this through flexible fee plans:

• Set fees per term, per subject, or per session
• Due dates aligned to term start
• Automated reminders go out 3 days before each term's fee is due

Parents receive a single fee notification at the start of each term with the full term amount and a Pay Now link. With BECS Direct Debit, they authorise once and never see another manual payment request.

OC Test and Selective School Preparation
