Pay As You Grow: TuitionDesk's New Pricing Between Free and Starter

How TuitionDesk's Pay as you grow ladder (20/30/40/50 students) works, what it costs, and what changes at each step — no forced jump from Free to Starter.

Most software pricing pages give you two real choices: stay on the free tier, or jump to the first paid plan. That jump is often the whole problem — a centre that's outgrown Free's caps by a handful of students shouldn't have to pay for capacity it doesn't need yet. Pay as you grow is TuitionDesk's answer: four small steps between Free and Starter, so growing from 10 to 75 students never feels like a cliff.

The four steps

PlanStudentsPrice/month
Free10₹0, forever
Pay as you grow — 2020₹99
Pay as you grow — 3030₹199
Pay as you grow — 4040₹299
Pay as you grow — 5050₹399
Starter75₹499

Every step up costs exactly ₹100 more for 10 more students — ₹10 per extra student, the same rate at every step. And unlike a per-student metered bill that changes every month, each step is a fixed, predictable price you choose — never a surprise line item.

Pay as you grow isn't a new feature tier. It's the same TuitionDesk you already know on Free, with more room. See our Free plan breakdown — everything described there is exactly what you keep at every Pay as you grow step.

What actually changes at each step

Owners on Free told us the same thing after they outgrew 10 students: the wall wasn't just students — it was also teachers, how far ahead they could schedule classes, and how long a fee plan could run. So Pay as you grow scales all four together, not just the student count:

Individual fee plans (students)51525354575

Batches are unlimited on every single plan, including Free — that was never a Pay as you grow differentiator, so it isn't in the table above. Create as many classes as your centre actually runs, on any tier.

What doesn't change: the feature set. Every Pay as you grow step has exactly the same features as Free — fee plans, attendance, Teacher Portal, Parent Portal, enquiry management, the works. There's no feature you unlock by paying ₹99 instead of ₹399 — only capacity. Starter is where the feature set itself expands (auto fee schedules, data export, two-way WhatsApp inbox, and more — see the full plan breakdown).

Why not just raise Free's limit?

Because a hard cap that means something is more useful than a soft one that doesn't. Free stays free forever at 10 students — that promise doesn't move. But a centre with 32 students isn't well served by a plan built for 10, and it isn't well served by being pushed straight to a ₹499 plan built for up to 75, either. Pay as you grow exists for exactly that middle ground: pay for the size you actually are today.

You can move up (or back down) the ladder any time from Settings → Subscription. There's no lock-in and no downgrade penalty — if your centre size changes, your plan can too.

How to pick a step

Pick the smallest step that covers your current student count with a little headroom — not the one that covers where you think you'll be in six months. Because moving up a step takes thirty seconds and never loses data, there's no cost to starting small and moving up exactly when you need to, one enrolment at a time.

A simple rule: if you're at your plan's student cap, or close to your teacher, batch, or fee-plan-span limit, that's your signal — not a countdown, not a sales email, just the product telling you plainly. TuitionDesk will show you exactly which limit you're near and what the next step (or Starter) unlocks, right in the app.

Where this applies

Pay as you grow is available for organisations billed in INR through Razorpay today. If you're billed internationally through Stripe, contact support@tuitiondesk.in — we're rolling this out to every currency we support.

Bottom line

Pay as you grow adds four real, fixed-price steps — 20, 30, 40, and 50 students — between TuitionDesk's Free and Starter plans, each scaling teachers, batches, scheduling horizon, and fee-plan span along with students, with the exact same feature set as Free at every step. Outgrowing Free no longer means a forced jump to a plan built for a much bigger centre.
